Christmas Panic

As sure as eggs is eggs the panic will be starting this week for prescriptions to cover the Christmas period. Are pharmacies closed for two weeks over the Christmas period so patients are unable to collect their medication causing them to die a slow and painful death? No is the simple answer. The weekend falling directly after Boxing Day does make things a bit trickier this year than most, but tens of thousands of people will collect extra prescriptions to cover the festive period but I can guarantee they will still try to collect their prescriptions as normal in January.

Is this a British phenomenon? I think so. The Americans and most other countries have come up with an ingenious solution to this annual problem – they make patients pay for their medication!!! God bless the NHS.
